  • Congratulations to Mr. Halpin and all of our band students for their performance last night in the spring band concert.  It was outstanding!

  • The DRES Spring Concert has been moved to Thursday, May 23rd.  There will be  performances at 2:00pm and 6:30pm.

  • Region #4 Superintendent Search: Please see the attached press release about the parent information night on April 23 at 7:00 PM for Deep River Families regarding the Region #4 Superintendent Search.  This meeting will be held in our schools media center and hosted by Dr. Joseph Erardi who is chairing the search committee.  Please be sure to read over the attached information regarding this event. We are also encouraging all of our parents to click on the following link and complete the survey to assist in the superintendent search: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfEkP4J3nzi56uTQsezmN1mGYmMgiH1r4DsI-BIbmmtqWEJ8A/viewform

  • The DRES Annual Tip-A-Teacher event will be held on Wednesday, April, 24th at Saint Joseph’s Parish Center in Chester, CT from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.  Please see the attached flyer for additional details.

  • The April School Newsletter is now up on our website.  The cover article explains our class placement process for the 2019 - 2020 school year. Please be sure to refer to this article or the information in our student handbook for questions you have regarding our class placement process.

  • Attention Dance Club Families - Mrs. Meislitzer would like to remind all of our dance club students that this past Tuesday was the final dance club session for the year.  Thank you all for participating.

  • Parents, please be aware that it is important that all students arrive at school on time.  Excessive lateness can have an impact on your child’s ability to start the day off properly as well as overall academic and social success.  If students accrue multiple tardies we will begin to send communication letters home.  Thank you for your support in this matter.

  • We are excited to be offering CELEBRATE LEARNING summer courses to the families within our school communities.  This summer our courses will focus on critical and creative problem solving through active engagement. The courses are designed to be creative and innovative and will incorporate literacy and mathematics. Courses will be offered at Essex Elementary School for students in grades K-6. Please be aware that current grade 6 students will attend Celebrate learning at Essex Elementary.

The program at Essex Elementary for students K-6 will be held from July 1-August 1 from 8:30-11:30 (Monday - Thursday). The fee for the 5 week program is $250.00.

The program at John Winthrop Middle School will be held from July 8-July 26 from 8:30-11:30 (Monday- Thursday). The fee for the 3 week program is $150.00.

Information regarding registration was posted at the beginning of March.

Please consider this wonderful summer opportunity for your student(s).

• Parents, when reporting your child absent, please be sure to call in the absence and be sure to provide a note when your child returns to school with the reason for the absence.

•Just a friendly reminder that all visitors to our building must sign in at our front office first and leave their driver’s license at the front desk.  This is done for student safety as well as accounting for all individuals in our building at any given time.  Thank you.
